What's this all about?

How This Got Started - I've always been a techno junkie. In 1985, together with my partner, I forged a telecommunications company that was primarily involved in long distance telecommunications. Growing from that, we branched out into the sales, installation, and maintenance of phone systems for the hospitality industry. Soon I was intriqued with the software and data side of the business. I began to write billing software for the phone systems that we worked with. Later I began building a software engine to commission agencies in our long distance business. These agents had an unquenchable thirst for up to the minute data. At first, I wrote software that updated bulletin boards with dial up phone lines. Later, when the internet came along, it proved to be the logical next step in data processing. The dial up internet business at that time was growing. Soon we began offering internet services. We hired an advertising agency, we ran ads, we waited for the avalanche of customers. Nothing happened. Everything that we had touched had turned into gold until this. I knew that something was wrong, but I could not put my finger on it. When Microsoft released Front Page, I bought a copy. I began to realize that websites could now be published (almost) as easily as a church newsletter. The Lord led me to realize that there was a new Christian mission field - internet websites. Shamefully, I realized that I had left God out of my business plan. I began offering free websites to Christian missionaries and other Christian interest groups. Soon the "free" website initiative had grown into a monster, completely overwhelming and consuming my time to the point that my professional duties suffered. To make a long story short, I sold out to my partners, keeping the internet business so that I could pursue it as a ministry first and business second.

A For Profit Corporation - By His Grace Ministries is a for profit corporation. While some of the services are offered as "free", there is in fact no free lunch. The free services are simply underwritten by paying customers. We offer a variety of internet related services for a fee instead of relying on donations. Our goal is to be a ministry first, business second.
