Requests for the Cuyo Team

Please Pray...

- For Justin and Adrian Martin and Andrew and Joshua Shelton as they leave for Bolivia this coming weekend for a week-long Missionary Kid retreat with other MK's from around South America (saftey, travel, health, fun, etc.)

- For the volunteer mission team from Tennessee arriving this Thursday as they minister in a retreat and conference.

- For the retreat this coming weekend for pastors and their wives; that they would be encouraged, unified, motivated and open to receive what the Lord has to say to their hearts.

- For the region-wide ladies' conference this next week; that all final details are worked out, travel arrangments are completed, and that there is an openess to hear and conform to the Word of God as it is made clear.

- For the team members traveling to San Rafael in several weeks for the Argentine National Baptist Convention.

- For the continued health and saftey of the entire team during this, one of the busiest times of the year for ministry and family activity.

Please Continue to Pray...

- that we, as a team, "stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel" (Philippians 1:27).

- for solid, good-paying jobs for those nationals that wish to work in the church-planting movement but are hindered by financial situations.

- for the people that have been contacted among- that they would be responsive to the Holy Spirit as the gospel is shared with them and for a church to be planted among this group.

- for more churches to respond to the need to plant churches out of their own resources.

- that established churches will assume the responsibility to plant churches and to prepare men and women to be church planters.

- for the team as we face the challenge to develop cell church and house church materials that can be used to reach the people of Cuyo and seek to plant churches using non-traditional methodologies.

- for our team to be wise in capturing those useful elements already present in the association that would aid in the flourishing of training new leaders for the church planting movement. Pray for us to have the wisdom we need in how to meet the growing needs of the church planting movement as people and churches are catching the vision.

- that the nationals in Mendoza have a supernatural desire to join in a church-planting movement and that God calls out leaders for this task from them.

Personal Prayer Requests

Joseph & Valerie Cartwright - We are thankful for the Lord's continued protection over our lives and His faithfulness in guiding our ways. Please pray for us as weÊmake future plans for the end of this year and begin to look for the job God would have for us. Pray for Joseph as he works to complete his assignments for his on-the-field seminary classes. Please pray that he would consistently have the wisdom of God in scheduling his time in order to complete not only his classes, but also the ministry opportunities and family responsibilities as well. Pray for increased opportunities to share the Gospel with those we come in contact with. Pray for Elisabeth, that she continues to grow healthy and strong and that her problems with airborne alergeries cease. Pray for Valerie to have the energy, wisdom and patience to be a godly wife, new mom and effective team member.

Amanda Ficklin - Well, the Lord DID answer our prayers in getting me more centrally located, just not how we might have anticipated....I am closer to town now, but not through circumstances I would have predicted. Many of you are already aware that the house I was staying in was broken into one night. Praise the Lord that I wasn't in the house at the time! Though quite a few things were stolen, Godâs protection was still at work. I had a stack of CDâs taken, but my laptop computer sitting right next to them wasnât touched - praise God! It looks like in the middle of April I will be able to move into a downtown apartment. Please pray that there are no further impediments to this process and that this move will be a true blessing to my ministry here. Homeschooling and ESL classes are moving right along. I'm praising the Lord for the Argentines that are assisting with the ESL classes. They are providing clever insight into different teaching methods. Continue to remember these classes and the women's Bible study for the university students that is still set to start in the near future.

Julie Hill - Please continue to pray for my church that the legal paperwork goes through without problems and rapidly so that construcion can be finished (a roof put on before winter). Pray for the new lay pastor and his family as they serve in this new role. Thank you for praying for my special friend; she is doing much better and is now studying theater in a local university. Pray for continued wisdom for me as I teach Jolie, Andrew, and Joshua Shelton and music students at th Lay Institute. Also pray that my piano students will practice and make Colossians 3:23 their motto "Whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." Continue to pray that God increases opportunities to work and build relationships with university students in order to share the Gospel with them and later disciple them. Praise: one of my sisters is coming to visit me May 12th-24th. Pray for her traveling saftey and for our time together.

Asbury & Hope Martin - Continue to pray for Hope as she wraps up final details with the local WMU and a volunteer team from the States for an up-coming womenâs meeting this next week and as she continues to disciple several new converts, preparing them to be a part of a cell group church. Pray for Asbury as he continues to lead in the team's church-planting organizational strategy and gathers reproducible literature for national use in the training and multiplication of cell groups/house churches. Pray for Justin, Adrian, and Allison as the new school year begins. In addition to their regular studies in Spanish at school each day and their home schooling courses they have committed themselves to various outside activities. Justin continues his studies in classical guitar and is now beginning studies in French. Adrian is taking private piano lessons and studying German. Allison is enjoying her childhood staying at home after school, learning piano from her mom. We praise the Lord for our Journeyman and ISC personnel for all the work they do in ministry not only among the Argentines but also with our kids. Pray for Amanda Fickland and Valerie Cartwright who are working with our children in their home schooling studies.

Jon & Monica McKinney -Thank you for praying for us. Things have calmed down considerably here and we are settling in just fine. We would like you to continue to pray for the salvation of our neighbors here (Sussana, Felix, Marcello, Virginia). They are open to talking about Christ and we are excited about the possibility of sharing the gospel with them. Please pray for Jorge and Maurico. Jorge is open and ready to begin working with our team in church-planting efforts. Also, Maurico and Jon are studying "Experiencing God" together, so pray that God may use Maurico mightily for the work here. Please pray for us as family as we adjust and live in Latin America and press on with our language and culture learning as well. Tristan is attending a national school and is doing pretty good so please pray for her. Trey and Aaron are doing good in homeschool. Againg, thanks for lifting us up in prayer.

Paul & Laura Shelton - We are thankful for the Lord's blessing in our lives and His sustaining grace in the middle of our hectic schedules. Thank you for keeping our family in prayer throughout the month. All the kids are now fully involved with their school year acitivities. Pray for Jolie as she adjusts to her new school and new ways of doing things. Pray for Andrew as he begins to work at a higher level of study both in his public schooling, music and with Julie on English. Pray also for Joshua as he spends some intense time preparing for the SAT, especially working hard on memorizing vocabulary. Pray for Laura and the young ladies she is able to work with in opportunities of discipleship. Pray for her continued culture and language work with the missionaries throughout Argentina and that the Lord would place helpers alongside her as and when needed. Pray for Paul as he completes the many administrative tasks necessary for the team and for wisdom in guiding and instilling vision for the church-planting movement within the many pastors of the local association. Also pray for him as he travels to Buenos Aires at the end of this month for a team leader's meeting. Thank you for continuing to pray that we use our time in the way God wishes us to, for above all, we wish to fulfill God's will for our lives.

May God Bless You,
