Men’s Leadership Training

Striving together . . .

to become better Disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.

to become better Christian Husbands.

to become better Christian Fathers.

to become better Christian Men.

to carry out The Great Commission.

Spiritual Growth Training:

Meaningful and pertinent weekly small group meetings are at the core of spiritual growth.  Men’s group meetings should be designed to facilitate a venue for dealing with issues that may be “off limits” in most “church” forums.  These meetings should be held at a church or some other private setting (away from home and not at a restaurant) to allow for an atmosphere of open sharing.  No food should be served although coffee could be available.  Suggested day and time is a weekday at 6 AM to allow for about 20 minutes of video material presentation, 20 minutes of sharing and accountability, and 20 minutes of discussion and prayer.  Discussion and Accountability Subjects could include:

·          The material presented in the video

·          Prayer Time

·          Study Time

·          Service and Stewardship

·          Loving the Lord

·          Loving our wives

·          Loving out children

·          Loving others

·          Intentional Boldness in Evangelism and Proclamation

·          Spiritual Warfare - avoiding and dealing with temptation

·          Grace – getting back up when you stumble

Networking:

Emphasis should be placed on regular contact (phone and email) between group members to encourage, better know, and pray for each other.  Members are to be accountable to the group to maintain contact with other members.

Bonding and Fraternity (finding your Accountability Partner):

Group activities should be designed to provide more than just fun and fellowship.  The goal is to foster close relationships between men that nurtures an unbreakable trust and respect between each other as Brothers in Christ.  Possibilities:

·          Skeet Shooting

·          White Water Rafting Weekend

·          Going to races

·          Overnight bonfire and campout (children invited)

·          Sunday afternoon picnic and kite flying (children invited)

·          Mountain Trail Hiking

·          Fishing Trips

·          “Honey Do” Lists - TEAM UP and do them TOGETHER AS A TEAM for each other in honor of our wives.

Outreach:

First, there should be an ever present and accountable effort to bring new men into the group with the intention of sending them out to lead new groups.  As the group grows, the goal is to have the leadership already developed so that new groups can be formed.  IMPORT IN ORDER TO EXPORT!  Second, meaningful Great Commission oriented projects should be planned and implemented.  Possibilities could include:

·          Making ourselves available AS A TEAM to community service projects such as Habitat for Humanity

·          Making ourselves available AS A TEAM to help with construction of the Christian Retreat Center on St. George Island.  This could include an overnight campout, cookout, and bonfire.

·          Serving AS A TEAM to make visitors at local campgrounds welcome during FSU home game weekends.  We could distribute handouts advising visitors of worthwhile services such as how to use the Seminole Express from the Civic Center.  Maps showing local points of interest could be distributed.  An early complimentary continental breakfast could be served with a short “come as you are” non denominational worship service held afterwards.  Following the service, AS A TEAM we could help visitors “break camp” and get on the road home.

·          National and International Mission Trips

Achievement Recognition:

An annual retreat could be given new vitality by incorporating an awards ceremony recognizing the efforts of those that have served.  Groups, as well as individuals could offer testimony of how their efforts were blessed.  New ideas and inspiring challenges would have an opportunity to flourish.  Healthy competition between groups could be fostered.
