Langenzersdorf Wappen

Langenzersdorf Coat of Arms

We would like to share with you about our town, so we'll be adding interesting information as we go along.

To begin with, Langenzersdorf is a town of about 8,000 people snuggled in between a small mountain (more like a large hill) and the Danube River (the German name for the river is Donau).

The Langenzersdorf Coat of Arms (in German: Wappen) is actually the coat of arms from an old German family. Years ago, a number of German people migrated to this area and began cultivating wine (we are still a wine area). This coat of arms is an adaptation of the coat of arms from one of the leading families who came. In the original, the dragon holds its prey (a rabbit) in its claw.

You can visit the Langenzersdorf Web Site for LOTS of info. Of course, it would be ideal if you can read German, but even if you can't, it's worth a look (and besides, you can figure it out without any trouble!).

More information to follow in the coming editions!
