Plasencia | home
Population 37,554Plasencia is 85 Km. north of Cáceres on the Ruta de Plata (Silver Route) on the way to Salamanca. The city is in the Jerte valley famous for its cherry orchards.
Plasencia was founded in 1183 by King Alfonso VIII. Seventy towers and eight gates were completed in the year 1198. It was a royal township until 1442.
One of the largest (non-gypsy) evangelical churches is the Bretheren church of Plasencia.
