We are Alan and Leah Fleming, independent missionaries to the Borana People of Kenya.  We live in Kenya with our three children, Abbey, Connor and Ross.  God has called us here to serve the Borana People and see them won to Christ.

This site will introduce you to these nomadic desert dwellers. It will also introduce you to the Fleming Family.  Each one of us has a page to tell you about ourselves. Be sure to visit the Our Vision page to undersatnd the vision God has given us for winning the Borana people to Christ.

The Borana people are a nomadic tribe that live in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia.  They are traditionally a pastoralist people who herd camels, sheep, goats, and cows.  They live a dry land that is desperate for water and they have an amazing system to ration their water during the droughts.  They use the Singing Wells.  These wells were dug 500 years ago and are still in use today.  They use donkeys to hall water and other things.  They live in several different types of houses.  They are mainly of a mud and stick construction.

The Borana People use camels as pack animals, not for riding.  The women and children live an extremely difficult life.  They work long hours and carry very heavy things on their backs.  The Borana people are lost without Jesus.  Their traditional religion is animistic, though many others have turned to another major world religion.

We will be going out be camel to reach this nomadic tribe.  We will use Chronological Bible Storying to teach them the Bible.  We will also be teaching them other skills that will help improve their quality of life.  These skills include, solar cooking, water conservation techniques and gardening in a bag.  In order to be able to do these things we must become fluent in the Borana Language.

You can also find out how you can Get Involved in Winning the Borana to Christ.  We need Prayer Partners, Financial Supporters and Volunteers.

Hope you enjoy.
