The Borana people are a Nomadic tribe that live in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia.
There are only a few large town located in Borana Land in Kenya. These towns are
Isiolo, Marsabit and Moyale.
The Borana are traditionally a Pastoralist people who herd camels, sheep, goats,
and cows. Though large numbers of the Borana have migrated to live in the large
towns listed above, many of them are still nomadic. The Borana that live in large
towns and villages have missionaries that are trying to reach them. As far as we
can determine, there are no missionaries which are targeting the nomadic Borana.
These nomads live a dry land that is Desperate for Water, but even more desperate
for Living Water.
The Borana have an amazing system to ration their water during the droughts. They
use the Singing Wells. These wells were dug 500 years ago and are still in use today.
They use Donkeys to hall water and other things. The Borana people live in several
different types of Houses. They are mainly of a mud and stick construction.
The Borana People use camels as pack animals, not for riding. The Women and Children
live an extremely difficult life. They work long hours and carry very heavy things
on their backs. The Borana people are Lost Without Jesus. Their traditional religion
is animistic, though many others have turned to another major world religion.
All of these things can be found in our site. Hope you enjoy.
