Northern Kenya has very few trees.  The few available trees are disappearing rapidly.  When we live among the Borana we will teach them alternate cooking methods.  Solar Cooking is one of those methods.  This cooker was designed for those who live in town.  All the materials needed to build it are available in most towns.  We need to design a solar cooker that can be packed up on the back of a camel.  If you have a design suggestion, please contact us.

 

Once a person has obtained their solar cooker, solar cooking is free and it is much easier than cutting firewood and building fires.  It is safe and it does not damage the environment.
