Barrancos Baptist Church - Culiacan

Barrancos is a section of town in the city of Culiacan,
Sinaloa. The local Baptists meet in the rented house above. This house offers
limited space but the believers use the house to provide a consistent presence and witness
to a section of town where no other Baptist church exists. Enjoy the photos below.
This is a typical Sunday at the Baptist Church in the colonia, Barrancos. You can
click the above photos for a larger view.

This is the pastor, Hermano Isaac Lopez. He is bi-vocational and works as a guard at a federal school. The church
started in his home. They began meeting in December 1997.

Your servants above have helped in the teaching and training at Barrancos
since the church began meeting. Susie, has helped in the areas of teaching and
training - especially in the ministries involving women and children. Leonard has been
mentor/coach to the pastor and he has helped a lot in teaching Sunday School so that the
Bible could be learned rapidly by all the new believers in this church.

Above is the Schedule of Services and one of the Bible verses that can be
seen posted in the House Church at Barrancos. If you are not familiar with Spanish, please
do not confuse the word CULTO with the English word
- cult. Culto means worship service. That is just Spanish. Another hard
one for English speakers is the word COMPROMISO. It
does not mean - compromise, at all. It means - Commitment. That is just
Spanish. Dictionaries may not explain it that way but these words have these
meanings when used by the people of Sinaloa. If you are familiar with the New Testament,
you should recognize that the Scripture Verse is from 1st Corinthians 15:58.

Here is a snapshot of the street and you can see some of the graffiti
that has been painted on the corner building. These photos can also be clicked for
larger viewing. Visit the links below and see what life is like on Sunday in Barrancos.
