Yolanda
Yolanda was a young mother who found out she had cancer at the end of last year. Her husband kicked her out of the home and sent her to be with her mother, who lived about 900 miles away. She was devastated at the rejection. However, the Lords sovereignty was evident. A few weeks after she arrived here in Culiacán, she was won to Christ on door to door visitation just a few blocks from where the Barrancos Baptist Church was meeting.
She was gloriously saved. Her life radiated in her new found faith. Her cancer subsided, and then got worse. I thank many of you that have prayed for her. Just a few days ago, she went home to be with Jesus. We were with her at the hospital when she died. We were told of the impact her faith had on those around her, both patients, as well as hospital staff. In fact, I was able to lead one lady to Christ who was in a bed next to hers.
Please pray for her son, Elvis. He turned 6 years old the day after his mommy died, and he started school the same week. I preached her funeral and am happy to tell you that there were many who prayed the sinners prayer, trusting Christ as Savior.
Chandler Team
Five men from Chandler Baptist, in Chandler, Arizona, helped install some windows, a cooler, did some plastering, and poured a sidewalk. The sacrifice the church made in finances and work to get this work done is greatly appreciated. The men of our churches where the work was done are continuing the work the Chandler men started.
Imuris Family Camp
The first week of August we had our annual family camp at our own camp grounds in Imuris, Sonora. Our group of Baptist churches in the State of Sonora have been meeting there every August for 48 years. Susie and I gave conferences on Love and Marriage, and with the help of my brother Mark, (pastor of Grace Community Baptist in Flagstaff, AZ) taught some sessions on some practical methods of developing vibrant ministries in the churches. I was able to preach on the last night of the camp. About 25 people, both teens and adults responded, committing their lives to serve the Lord.
Prayer Requests
We have a few prayer requests. Please pray for us as we will be making a two week trip to Missouri for a missions conference this month. Also pray for baptismal services scheduled for the last Sunday of September in a new work, Iglesia Bautista Sublime Gracia (Amazing Grace Baptist Church). Last Sunday three made public their desire to be baptized. There are several others who have been saved and need to be baptized. Pray for Eduardo, a new Christian in this new church. He has cancer.
Thank you for your support and prayers. May God bless you.
In Christ,
Leonard and Susie
