There is great enthusiasm among church leaders at the prospect of a missionary doing training among the existing congregations. There is also much interest in taking the gospel into the areas of  Niassa Province that have little or no evangelical witness. The missionary who accepts this assignment will find great opportunity for evangelism and church planting in cooperation with Mozambican believers. Living in a small town but working in the bush the majority of the time. The field is wide for harvest. Developing a strategy with the one pastor to reach the Makhuwa Shirima. ABC - Good News Communicator – Literacy Specialist – Nampula Province – Job number 50457

To develop and implement a literacy program to help the people who do not know how to read and write will be the beginning point. To use this literacy program as a means to evangelize those people in the community that might not come to church to worship. To be able to develop material when it is not available and to train Christian professors how to use the material. You will also teach the professors how to do personal evangelism and discipleship through this literacy program.

We already have the two beginning literacy primers in both Portuguese and Makhuwa. We have five post primers in Makhuwa/ Portuguese. But more easy readers will need to be developed from Bible stories and practical subjects that will help the people in their everyday life. We already have established cooperative work with the government Education Ministry (INDE), Literacy Evangelism International in the US and Brazil, United Bible Society and SIL (Wycliffe) in Mozambique. They have been very cooperative in developing materials together with one of our missionaries already on the field who does literacy part time but because of S.C. responsibilities can not do it for the entire northern provinces. * Many have eye sight problems so some missionaries have started collecting reading glasses from the churches in the US. The Makhuwa team already has a kit to determine the prescription needed by our students. We get donations from groups in the US to send used eye glasses. Tell me more  Job number  50457
