"Children of God you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life."

Dear Friends,

It has been so COOL seeing so many of you during my Stateside Assignment these past 5 months. God is so good! And our International Mission Board is always gracious-- they "give" you 6 months to catch up with friends and share in churches, when you're on the field 3 years. What you don't use, accrues-- in my case, I'd been away for 2 years, but had "time coming" leftover from before. I have just 1 month to go, and then fly out January 2nd. That will give me still 5 more weeks of our university winter semester (our fall/winter begins in October in Germany). Thanks for praying for my trip to Texas last month. It was really blessed and I had such fun visits with my aunt and uncle who live on Toledo Bend lake... 2 aunts & an uncle in Tyler and Ft. Worth... and many special friends and churches in different cities. I so appreciate your lifting up these prayer needs (maybe God will lay 1 on your heart to pray for each day)!

  1. VISION -- pray that the Lord lays on my heart HIS special will for this Connexxion ministry, as we seek to expand onto other campuses and cities to reach 2.2 million collegians in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Pray that our students would see the "big picture." I had a great visit 3 weeks ago with a young couple from the Atlanta area who is starting the process to serve 2 years in Jena!! Yippee!! The 2-year program is called "International Service Corps."
  2. Future-- Julie (our Journeyman staffer) is making important decisions about her future job in the US when she finishes her term with us in February. Also, Anja is looking at long-term options for her training & ministry. In the spring, it will have been 2 years that both have served with us.
  3. PRAISE for the RETREAT-- 22 persons came & were challenged to share their faith. They said it went "great." So far I've heard of at least 5 different encounters that students & staff had the next week, to give a Gospel presentation to friends. Pray for those 'seekers' who have recently heard the Good News, to respond to Jesus-- Steffi (was in my English course at the university), Susi, Emi, Peggy & Peter (who hosted a volunteer this summer).
  4. Praise for growth steps: Dawn, a student from England who is in our discipleship group on Thursdays, just got baptized this Sunday!
  5. Once a month on Thursday nights is "Extra Cross" -- a worship time that we do on campus. This is special, because in order to get permission we have to send a letter to the university president's office. Our next event will be Thursday, Dec. 9th, w/ our pastor Stefan Keil speaking about dating & moral purity.
  6. We are averaging a total of about 30 students each week in 4 different outreach Bible studies. Every Monday, Tues. and Wed. you can pray at 2 p.m. (EST) and 1 or more groups are coming together at 8 p.m. Germany time! TONIGHT the Weimar group, led by a busy architecture student Sebastian M., will be showing the "Passion of the Christ" on DVD in an apartment. The other 3 groups showed it last week-- pray for hearts to be touched and 'seekers' to come in DROVES!

Bless ya! Your friend,
Martha
