About Us:

God calls senior adults to serve overseas. In 2000 Cheryl and Winston had been married for 32 years. Cheryl was a high school counselor in the Richmond County School system and Winston was Minister of Music/Senior Adults at Fleming Baptist Church in Augusta, GA when the Lord began dealing with Winston about International Missions.
Winston was Minister of Music at Baxley, GA First Baptist Church in 1967 when he met Cheryl McLean, a new teacher at Appling County High School. Winston and the pastor were visiting new teachers as prospects for attending FBC. On that day they met only one teacher. If it wasn’t love at first sight, it was close. Winston and Cheryl were married on July 8th the next summer.

Winston’s ministry in the church continued for 38 years and Cheryl continued to teach English after taking time off to give birth to three children, a daughter, Meredith, a son, Calvin, and a second daughter Shannon.

In the intervening years Winston continued to serve as music minister to several churches and Cheryl taught until she retired in 2003. God’s call to missions resulted from Winston’s involvement in the Sons of Jubal, a men’s chorus, in the Georgia Baptist Convention. Over the years the Jubals were involved in several overseas trips at the invitation of the International Mission Board.

The confirmation of that call came on a mission trip by the Jubals to Alaska in 2000. Cheryl began to sense that same call and the couple began to talk with an IMB consultant. God revealed to them at an International Missions conference at Glorieta, NM in 2002 that they would serve in Mexico City as strategists for Operation GO, a strategy that will eventually place the gospel in every household in Mexico City, home to over 28 million people using volunteer teams from SBC churches in the USA.

They leave behind in the states their three children and families. God has blessed them with six grandchildren; three since leaving GA and a second son-in-law recently married to their youngest daughter Shannon. Two of their children have served as missionaries: Calvin in Mexico City and Shannon in Bangkok, Thailand

Following an extensive application procedure, a seven week orientation process, and a year of language study in San Jose, Costa Rica, Winston and Cheryl are living and working as a part of the NW Mexico City Mission team and Operation GO team in Mexico following the Lord’s call.
