About Me:

I was born in El Salvador (Central America). At the age of thirteen, I was the first one in my family to come to know Christ. In the midst of war around us and war within us, God impacted the life of my family as He miraculously transformed mine. My parents and brother are now very strong Christians and involved in ministry. My youngest brother, who also became a Christian, died during the war.

I accepted God’s calling to serve him in missions when I heard a missionary speak during a youth meeting. Two years later God took me to the United States invited by a church in Humble, Texas to serve in their Spanish ministry project. One and a half years later, I met Gary Sloan. It was clear to us from the beginning of our relationship that we would be serving God together as a couple. We were married on December 20, 1986. Three months later we started our first of three Spanish churches in Texas. Our goal, though, was to serve as missionaries through the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. After 10 years of preparation, we finally made it. We were appointed as missionaries in June of 1998 and arrived in Mexico in December of that same year along with our four children.

Gary and Carla, our oldest daughter, died in a drowning accident six months after arriving in Tapachula, Chiapas (June 18, 1999). My three other children, Alyssia, Rissa and Alan and I returned to the United States for healing and to seek God’s direction. In January of 2000, we arrived in Toluca, Mexico. My job there was to serve as a church planter, to develop a strategy to start new churches using children’s ministries and to establish a faster model for church planting. By the grace of God, after six years of ministry, my job in Toluca has been completed. Since September 1, 2005, I serve as team leader for the North West Church Planting Team in Mexico City. It is a great challenge and a big change in life-style for our family, but we are certain of God’s calling to Mexico City and of His equipping to fulfill such calling. God is faithful and good to our family. I consider an honor and privilege to serve Him.

1 Tim 1:12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service; (NAS)

2 Cor 3:4-6 And such confidence we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as {coming} from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate {as} servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. (NAS)
