HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY a day or two late to all of you mothers out there! Itreated Sandra to a special lunch at her favorite restaurant in all of Mexico on her day and gave my mom a call early Sunday morning. Sandra heard from all 3 of our children. We are truly blessed. Sandra prepared some flowers in handblown vases to give to some of our friends and did a little magnet thing from Proverbs 31 about a virtuous women whose worth is more than rubies(or in Spanish more. She loves to do things for people and give to them. I am her errand and delivery boy who sometimes acts like the older brother from the prodigal son story--in that at times I am reluctant to run her errands.

We had a very profitable and busy week. I want to share with you an encounter we had with a couple Saturday evening. The young lady had a child out of wedlock seven or eight years ago but through God's grace and forgiveness has grown and lived with the she Lord. She has been dating a fine young man, she met at work, however he is not a Christian. They all came over last night, we fixed dinner for them and in the course of conversation began to talk about the Lord and our relationship with Him.

Sandra led out in the conversation and asked him if he had any questions related to the Christian life. He began to asked us questions and we answered them as best as we could and shared Scriptures with him. He was raised in a particular religion and we asked if he was taught about a personal relationship with Christ and he said no. He said he was taught that if he did good works that he would make it to heaven. As we continued in the evening I became more aware of how many of us who are brought up in a religious system can come to the point that we live by a point system thinking if it all adds up right we will make it to heaven. Oh, we say we believe we are saved by grace through faith and in the beginning believe that but religion sets in. One of our pastors here in Toluca has a set of rules by which you must go by before you can be a member of his church and there is no scriptural basis to his beliefs other than he was taught that way. He accuses some of his members of being rebellious because they are out leading people to the Lord and discipling them in the Word but they do not follow his rules.

Jesus Christ entered a world that was so weighed down with rules and regulations that when he spoke the truth they wanted to stone Him and finally their law crucified Him.We are confronted daily with traditionalism and death rather than grace and life in the Spirit. I believe in works but James says that our works is the result of our faith not the other way around. Someone once said that most people are so activity oriented that if the Holy Spirit left there church they would never realize it. Oh, that we would live in the liberty of the Spirit. I believe in the church and the reason it is here, but I do not believe in the religious systems we have built that destroys the ability to reach and touch lives for Christ.

What happened with Moises, the young man we talked with about Christ? He listened, he accepted the Bible we gave him, he thanked us for sharing with him, and said that he would seriously think about what we said. He is very open to the Gospel and I believe he will soon accept the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Our prayer requests:
1. Pray for the salvation of Moises.
2. Pray for me as I begin a Bible study on Mondays evenings with three men who have claimed to be Christians but have difficulties in their lives especially concerning alcohol. Pray that they will become overcomers in the faith.

I am getting out of my comfort zone as I begin to teach these men. I am greatly challenged with the responsibility of teaching them but also the challenge of the language. I know the Lord will lead me and give abundant grace to teach. I will also be helping with a Bible study on Fridays with Fernando. I went this past Friday and I have rarely seen a group of people so hungry to study the Word of God. It was so refreshing and encouraging.

Our vision:
"We will follow God's leadership so that everyone in the valley of Toluca will hear, understand, and respond to the Gospel, resulting in a reproducible, church-planting movement."
