About us
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about us. As you read this material, we hope you catch a broader glimpse of what Emmanuel Baptist Church is all about. It's about people, people just like you, who have discovered a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and is the basis for faith and practice. This church accepts The Baptist Faith and Message: A statement adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention June 14, 2000 as our statement of faith.
Our Pastor
Jack Wiley was ordained at Bloomington Baptist Church in Bloomington, Indiana. He earned master of divinity degree in theology from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997. He is currently a candidate for the doctor of ministry degree in evangelism and church growth from the same institution. Jack has served as a youth minister for numerous years, a church planter in Brazil through the International Mission Board of the S.B.C. for 6 years, and as Senior Pastor first of Hartsville Baptist Church, and currently EBC of Tyrone.
Jack married Julia Valerius of Birmingham, Alabama in 1997 and has two children, Michael and Jason. The Tyrone Community
For Tyrone, Pennsylvania, the past began on a snowy Christmas day in 1850 when a lumberman named Jacob Burley moved his family into a cabin at the corner of what is now Tenth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Our present-day borough of 5300 people is strategically located between State College to the north and Altoona to the south.
Tyrone has experienced a resurgence of commerce, community and culture during the 13 years EBC has been here. A new downtown “park”, public library, and elementary school are a testament to our area’s spirit. You can have coffee at JoyBeans, ice cream at Gardner’s Candies or spend time fishing at Reservoir Park.
Nestled in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains, Tyrone is located close to the center of the commonwealth, and is served by a thoroughly modern hospital facility. We are surrounded by the communities of Bellwood, Philipsburg, Alexandria, and Huntingdon. Just up the road is Tipton, where you will find DelGrosso’s, a very popular water and amusement park. Within a five-mile radius, a population of 12,400 provides a pool for outreach and ministry.

Scripture
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (niv)
