Our Story
In the 15 years of EBC’s existence, we have watched God at work. He continues to bless us on our great adventure together. We thank you for checking us out on the web and invite you to join with us on this adventure. Here are few highlights from the past.
March 31, 1996 Easter Sunday Twenty individuals meet in a home. Emmanuel Baptist will pursue a pastor and develop a constitution.
August 1996 EBC hires first pastor; begins Sunday school and youth program.
June 2000 Pastor departs for Peru mission field; 1st missionary from EBC and local association.
October 2000 EBC calls its second pastor. Begin a F.A.I.T.H. program.
Fall 2001 Several families join EBC, Praise Team organized.
January 2005 Our pastor resigns to accept Maryland pastorate. Pastoral Search Committee formed. Hired our third pastor Jack Wiley. Purchased a building in downtown Tyrone.
2006 Summer Praise Team goes on a Mission Trip to West Virginia.
2007 Community survey, food drive for local food bank, and Kids’ Klub moved to evenings and Park Avenue playground; Education space requires Youth to move to 3rd floor; EBC begins regular blood drives
2008 Community Outreach to the WTRN radio station; Praise Team plays for the Baptist Convention of Pennsylvania/South Jersey
2009 Mid-week Bible study established; Summer Surge – The teen help paint youth outreach center in Bellwood called the “The Door”; Third adult Bible study class offered Sunday mornings; Surge 601 a bi monthly youth activity launched
2010 More than 450 man-hours were put into sprucing up our building from the West Virginia Mission Team and the youth of EBC; Organizes local Day of Prayer; Organizes and oversee a Back-to-School supply distribution. Over 500 local students receive necessary school items
2011 Pay off mortgage; Celebrate 15th Anniversary of EBC
